Facebook Working on Incorporating the Hashtag

Twitter's hashtags are vital to segment social chatter. When a user clicks on the individual key term, he can see every post associated with the tag and follow the online conversation. That's why marketers create unique tags for their professional campaigns so that they can learn more about their target audiences.

Twitter has owned the hashtag market since the social network’s invention. However, an article published by Evelyn Rusli and Shira Ovide at Wall Street Journal reports that Facebook might try to get in on the action in the near future. According to the report, Facebook is working on incorporating the hashtag, one of Twitter's most iconic markers, into its service by using the symbol as a way to group conversations.
