Some web experts who don’t work in SEO say that a good website will rank well without any SEO done to it. One of the most common criticisms levied against SEO is that it should be unnecessary because according to them, a website that is built properly and filled with great content, will rank organically on its own merits without needing any SEO applied to it.
According to Barry Adams of State of Search, as a SEO practitioner, he has an almost instinctual resistance against that argument. However, it’s too easy to dismiss it out of hand. SEO is after all a multidisciplinary activity, relying on a great many disparate facets to be optimally deployed.
